I was born on the East coast, moved to the West coast, and grew up in Northern California better known as No-Cal. I moved to Colorado when I married my husband, Frank, and I have been here for the past 21 years. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.
I’ve always been in sales starting when I was 16 years old. I went door-to-door selling chocolate bars so I could go to Mexico during
spring break with the city organizers and build a children’s park. I made a bet with my dad that I would make enough money to pay for the trip. Afraid I wouldn’t succeed, he promised to match whatever I made. Well, I not only paid for my trip but I had enough to pay for 2 others to make the trip. So I took a couple friends with me and my dad donated his money to the school in Mexico.
After college, I spent 10 years with Macy of California (before Nordstrom’s bought them out). One of my jobs was as a buyer for the greeting card department. Later, I bought for the annual Christmas Shops which included ornaments, Christmas trees, lights, cards and wrapping paper. Some years later, I guess it was a natural progression that I should return to the profession of spreading joy to people, one card at a time.
When I’m not selling, I enjoy my time with my husband, daughter and granddaughter. I love to read, write, crafts and travel.
My mission in this world is to enjoy it. I figure “why else am I here?” Each day is a day I have to share it with others, to enrich and give back something. That’s why I like to send an unexpected card to someone every day. I send a little happiness out into the world. It’s been said better than I could say it by Maya Angelou,
‘People will forget what you said,
People will forget what you did,
But people will never forget how you made them feel.’
