About Kat Anderson
Katherine "Kat" Anderson is a Colorado native, grew up in Arvada, and graduated from Arvada High in 1975. She has since taken many college courses, ranging from drawing, painting and design, to graphic design and architectural engineering, and of course jewelry design and repair. She started in the jewelry business in 1977, working as a part time sales person for Tomken Jewelers in the Arvada Plaza Shopping Center. This is where she began learning many of the skills that she uses in her business today. She went on to a full time position as a bench jeweler at Tomken's and continued working there until 1981 when she moved to the Western slope. There she worked in sales for Kay Jewelers in Grand Junction and was responsible for introducing the company to "in-house" jewelry repair. After that she did repair and custom work for various other jewelry stores, including some of the gift shops in pre-casino Central City and Black Hawk, as well as Jared, before coming back to Tomken Jewelers in Arvada. She started TomKat Jewelers in March of 2010, after Tomkens closed their doors. She continues to offer many services, including ring sizing, chain and bracelet repair, stone setting, re-tipping, engraving, watch repair and batteries, rhodium plating and much more. She also offers FREE jewelry cleaning and inspection, and FREE on the spot estimates on repairs and custom designs. She loves to take worn or broken jewelry and restore it, making it into something new and beautiful for the customer to enjoy once again.
